A BRIEF EDITORIAL

Years ago before the onslought of the information
superhighway we call the internet, 435 had News Letters published
from time to time. These periodicals were both informative and
entertaining. When I first became a ham, John(ALT)
and Sue(UVD)
had just published the June of '95 news letter. They were
expected to publish another one in the later half on 1995. This
became a long running show with them after several months went
by and no new 435 News Letter appeared for whatever the reason(s).
Keep in mind that John and Sue were under no obligation to continue
this service which they provided at their own expense. Though
many of us took part in the "Where's the News Letter Show"
which lasted for a couple of years, we really did appreciate their
effort.
ENTER THE INTERNET
When Jeff
Jurenka,(KD6GDB) created this site we all had great expectations.
He put countless hours of development into this site. Maybe a
little too much. The pages were big and slow to load since most
everyone was still using dialups. Perhaps that's main reason the
site didn't see as much traffic as it should have. Personally,
I always liked the "look and feel" of this site. The
picture pages just took too damn long to load, or not at all with
Netscape. As Jeff became busier and more successful, he found
he had neither the time, nor interest in maintaining the site.
Since I have always liked this site, and since it has some historical
value as 435's first "official" web site, I jumped
at the opertunity to help Tim both restore and preserve 435.org.

Yeah Right. Keep in mind that when Jeff wrote
this, John and Sue were a little bit late with the News Letter.
Now that seven years have gone by, I don't think anyone is still
holding their breath.
